What is it doing?
MarketMan allows you to match barcodes to your existing inventory items for easier search while counting, and even add in new inventory items by scanning the barcode!
No need for a barcode scanner- you'll be doing everything directly in the MarketMan app.
Why should I use it?
It is important to understand that counting by storage areas while utilizing shelf-to-sheet is still the best and fastest way to count your inventory. Since in some cases the storage feature won't suffice, we offer the barcode scanning to help speed things up and save you time.
Instead of searching for an item name, you can simply scan the barcode and MarketMan will locate the item for you to enter the qty.
This will help you if:
- If you have a specific storage area in which items tend to move a lot (let's say, freezer) the barcode scanning option might be the right fit for you in those areas, where you can't utilize shelf-to-sheet.
This should greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to do an inventory count! - If you have a very large inventory and you don't want to utilize our storage areas and shelf-to-sheet options, barcode scanning can help you save time while counting.
HOW TO SET IT UP - Step by Step, on the app!
- Open up the app, then click on "Inventory counts"
- Add a new count by clicking on New Count on the bottom right hand side.
We always want to work on a new count, to prevent deleting/changing by mistake.
- Click on the Start with Barcode button at the bottom
- The scanner will open up, and allow you to scan the barcode of the item/box.
Make sure you're positioning the barcode in the middle of the screen in accordance with the instructions on the screen:
- You'll get to this screen that tells you that barcode hasn't been assigned to an inventory item yet. That's okay because that's what we'll do next!
- You'll be directed to a list of all of your items. Simply search for the item name, and click on the item when you find it.
You'll be asked to confirm this before your choice is saved:
HOW TO USE IT - On the app!
Once the barcodes are set up and matched to items, you can easily run through your count with scanning.
- Open up the app, then click on "Inventory counts"
- Add a new count by clicking on the big plus button.
- Click on the Start with Barcode button at the bottom
- Scan the item, and it will bring it up right away!
You'll see the item screen, where you can pick with unit you're counting, and add the qty.
- Then click on "scan next" to keep going.
Click on "save" when you're done counting.
Extra tips - from the experts!
- If you are operating a multi location with HQ barcodes must be set up in the HQ for each inventory item as input on the inventory item pop-up.
