Managing New Items in MarketMan - Weekly Sweep

What are new inventory items?

It is common in MarketMan to add new items upon receiving orders - whether you're getting real new items, or just different purchase options for the same items you already have in MarketMan.

When scanning invoices into MarketMan, if an item is purchased that is not already in your inventory list, it will be added as a new item. Managing new items is important in order to maintain data accuracy in MarketMan - new items review, correction, and merging as needed, ensures smooth inventory counts, ordering and future receiving, as well as correct purchasing reports.
You should handle new items on a weekly basis.

Why should I do it?

We suggest checking and managing your new items on a weekly basis. This will allow you to use them in recipes, keep track of cost/pricing, and merge with existing items if needed!

HOW TO - Step by Step
    1. Go to "Inventory" > "Inventory Items"
    2. On the inventory items page, the green Manage New Items button will tell you a quick glance how many new items require your attention.
    3. From here you can review item information and decide between three options:

Accept: adds the item into MarketMan as is, including making it available for count on your inventory count page.

Edit: Change the item name, unit of measurement, cost, etc. This will update the invoice the item originated from. (example - if the item was set up in the wrong unit of measurement)

new items you'll need to:
  -  Add a category (you can do this in bulk)
  -  Add the item to a storage area
  -  Turn on the count options (you can do that in bulk too!)

Add to existing: (merge) access the full inventory item’s list to select a parent item you’d like to add this product to. Learn more about when to merge items in this article!
